Daily Dose of Courage – 15 April 2020

Job wasn't ready. You know when God starts a conversation by telling you to dress like a man that it is going to be good. God essentially says to Job, alright mate, put your big boy pants on, and pay attention. And then the questions begin, and they are God's questions exposing Job's limitations when compared to God's lack of those very same limitations. 

Daily Dose of Courage – 25 March 2020

Job's search for wisdom leads him to the end of his own rope, which he finds in the dirt at the feet of his Lord. Wisdom is seeing God as more, not as less. Wisdom is worship of a big God, not manipulation of a small one. Wisdom is more obedience, more awe, more wonder, more faith, more trust, more worship, more of God, and altogether less of us. That's true wisdom.

Our deep desire to offer explanation often functions as the opposite of empathy. We can be too quick to attempt to explain and too slow to lovingly listen. We can be all too willing to analyze another's allotted set of circumstances while much too afraid to allow ourselves to feel another's agony.
